Although I offer my interpretation of the Major Arcana cards on this page you need to understand their relationship to other cards of the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana cards. Be careful not to interpret an individual card out of context - this could give you a completely different understanding that what is intended. Click here to Order Film The Major Arcana consists of 22 trump tarot cards. When selected by a client and laid, the Major Arcana cards interpretation have different meanings depending whether they are upright or reversed. The description includes both the upright and reversed meaning. I will present each Major Arcana card and give a description and meaning for the upright card and the reversed card. The fool represents new decisions and spontaneity. You step into something new and take a risk. There is a risk that is worth taking. There could be a new job on the horizon— possibly a new town. In reverse—be careful of your choice. The risk may not be the right one. Consider your options well for a new venture 
The Magician represents a man seeking knowledge or an answer, and is also the elusive source of that knowledge. The interpretation is dependant on the relationship of this card and those which surround it. In a reading this would represent a new beginning, such as a new career. Be confident in your ability. It’s reverse meaning is one of Instability, Mental problems and abuse of power 
The high priestess is a card of intuitive knowledge and understanding. It may represent intuition or inspiration. In some cases it may represent a subversive influence and in detrimental situations it could possibly identify emotional instability or a possible a lack of forward thinking. In a practical reading the card is advising you that the client must be guided by their intuition. You should wait for the right time to proceed using your intuition. In reverse—Everything is open to you and there are no secrets. Guard against conceit or selfishness. 
The Empress represents a birth in the family. The Empress also relates to mother earth and domestic matters. Something material may come into their home. House relocation or a successful project. This is a card of achievement. If reversed this card reveals that there may be domestic upheaval in the home. There may be a disruption to a relationship. Possible birth difficulties.  The Emperor reveals a position of power, such as a Father figure. It shows someone who is strong and protective. A person who wants to achieve and start a new enterprise. A reversed card suggests a person that is more tolerant, but lacks discipline maturity and is possibly unreliable 
The Hierophant is the male counterpart of the high priestess card. The Hierophant card represents religion, tradition or spiritualism. In a practical reading it represents a person that is spiritual, religious or traditional in some way. You must guard against anything unkind, illegal or immoral. It is also a marriage or relationship card. They need to look within themselves and know that their course of action is true. The person must take personal responsibility for themselves and their actions. Reversed it represents someone who is open to ideas and will explore opportunities and unorthodox ideas. A time to believe in your own thoughts. 
The Lovers represent that there will be choice which will result in an important outcome. This is shown in the symbolism of the lovers that have chosen one another. The tree of Knowledge suggests choice. You must not assume that this card relates to love or marriage, although it may. It can relate to any aspect in life. Its meaning will depend heavily on the cards that surround it. In the reversed position this card represents failure, disagreement and opposition. This could refer to a situation or a relationship.
