The Magician is the most recognizable card of the Majors and is the only card to show the symbols of the Minor Arcana. If he represents a person of the querent he can be clever and persuasive. A man who is used to being listened to. He could be a Doctor, Lawyer or a trickster. In the A.E Waites cards the number one card in the major Arcana is the Magician. It depicts a man dressed in a flowing red robe. He is standing behind a wooden table. Upon the table are the 4 symbols of the suits, which include a cup, a sword, a wand and a pentacle. The robed magician wears a white band upon his head and holds a baton in his right hand. The symbol for eternity is above him. A garden of red Roses grow at his feet and hang above him. The Magician card represents the Greek God Hermes and is portrayed in Egyptian mythology as the inventor of writing and of all knowledge. The interpretation of this card is very much dependant on the cards that surround it. In a reading this would represent a new beginning, such as a new career. Be confident in your ability.
